In 1931, in spite of being in the midst of the Great Depression, Alice M O'Brien led the Women's City Club of St. Paul into their brand new Art Deco clubhouse at 305 St Peter Street in St. Paul. In 1972, it was sold to the MN Museum of Art and in 1982 it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
